Focus on innovations: Horstmann at the trade fair 'Schutz- und Leittechnik'

We are not only visiting at the 'Schutz- und Leittechnik' trade fair in Leipzig, but are also actively contributing our innovations in the form of two exciting projects.

1️⃣ Reliable detection of earth faults and short circuits in distribution grids

Kim Krawiec is a student assistant in product management and system testing in the development department at Horstmann. She will be presenting the interim results of her master's thesis at the poster session of the VDE ETG/FNN Tutorial Protection and Control Technology 2024.
This was carried out in collaboration with Horstmann and the Institute ie3 (Institute of Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency and Energy Economics) at the Technical University of Dortmund and focuses on the safe detection of earth faults and short circuits in distribution grids.

We are defining practice-relevant influencing factors on earth fault and short-circuit scenarios in benchmark grids. Based on this, we develop a simulation-based test environment using design-of-experiments methods to validate and optimize our algorithms.

We aim to realistically demonstrate and continuously improve the robustness of our fault direction algorithms.

2️⃣ Energy system in virtual reality

We are also a project partner of the University of Wuppertal in the #Varele research project, in which an energy system is modeled in virtual reality. On our poster, we present the project plans and the first successful results. We are proud to be researching such innovative future topics together with the University of Wuppertal and contributing our ideas.
