Insights into our plant in Körperich

Many people associate Horstmann with the Heiligenhaus site. However, there is another plant in Körperich where we produce. We would like to introduce this location to you today.

The beginning
In the economically weak southern Eifel region, the mayor at the time, Mr Schäfer, encouraged the successful entrepreneur Heinrich Horstmann to establish a subsidiary in order to create jobs. Horstmann, who valued the region, found a suitable former joinery for the company in Körperich. He advertises in the "Trierischer Volksfreund" for a plant manager, whereupon the 24-year-old Johannes Mies becomes aware of the vacancy. Johannes M., who was educated in the region, takes up the position and starts producing short-circuit indicators in November 1960. This marks the establishment of the Körperich branch of Dipl.-Ing. H. Horstmann GmbH and contributes to the local economy.

The present
Today, high-quality mechanical and electronic components for medium-voltage technology are manufactured in Körperich under the management of Mr Gerhards. #madeinGermany

A lot has happened since the 60s:
✅ 6 employees became 60
✅ Expansion of the site to almost 2000 m²
✅ Completion of a new warehouse in 2021
✅ Electronic devices have also been produced since 1980
✅ Sustainable investment in renewable energies such as 98 kWp photovoltaic system
