In contrast to phase current sensors, phase current sensors provide a voltage-proportional output signal instead of a transformed current. While phase current sensors work according to the classic transformer principle and convert high primary currents into low secondary currents, phase current sensors use modern electronic measuring principles such as the Hall effect. This technology enables a particularly compact design and precise measurements, even in the low signal range. Although phase current sensors require an external power supply, they often offer additional functions such as digital signal processing and greater accuracy at low currents.
