Integrated voltage detecting system with innovative partial discharge monitoring
Wega PD is a 2-in-1 device that, in addition to its voltage detecting system function, performs continuous partial discharge monitoring. Wega PD monitors all connected medium- and high-voltage equipment and remotely reports critical partial discharges. Assembly and manufacturing faults as well as insulation damage caused by ageing effects are detected in good time before an unexpected fault occurs.
The 24-hour auto-learning mode for self-adjusting the partial discharge threshold value enables easy commissioning, regardless of cable type or boundary conditions at the installation site.
The integrated early fault detection enables early detection of potential fault and thus contributes significantly to increased supply reliability.
The following medium voltage conditions are displayed:
 | Voltage present | Threshold values for voltage presence indication: 0.1 — 0.45 x Vnom Installation note: The voltage signal is too low when operating the system at nominal voltage. The cause is usually the selected adjustment capacitor which is too large or the operation of the switchgear at a nominal voltage that is lower than originally envisaged. |
 | Voltage present and integrated maintenance test passed | The current flowing through the display unit meets the current monitoring requirements of IEC 61243-5 and IEC 62271-213. A maintenance test is not necessary due to the continuous monitoring. |
 | Voltage present and integrated maintenance test passed; voltage signal, nonetheless, is too high | Installation note: Voltage signal too high. The cause is usually the selected adjustment capacitor which is too small, an earth fault or the operation of the switchgear at a nominal voltage that is higher than originally envisaged. |
 | Voltage not present | When all poles of the system are switched off, all symbols are switched off. Voltage present <0.1 x Un. |
The built-in display test function on the front allows the display to be tested when installed and de-energized. Shielded or unshielded cables with compact plugs (AMP) can be connected to the fault direction indicator.
