Opto R+D 3.0

Short-circuit and earth fault indicator

The Opto F+E 3.0 is a combined short-circuit and earth fault indicator and is used to detect, display and remotely signal short-circuit currents in medium-voltage networks. Due to the measuring principle, the earth fault indicator is suitable for networks with low-impedance or rigidly earthed neutral point treatment as well as for operation in a radial or open ring network.
The indicator can be used in both encapsulated and open medium-voltage systems. The potential separation between the current sensors on the cable / busbar and the display unit is ensured during signal transmission via fiber optic cables (FO). The current sensors have built-in threshold value detection. When the set response value is reached or exceeded, light pulses are emitted and sent from the sensor to the opto via an optical fiber. The short circuit is made visible in the display unit by red phase-selective flashing LEDs.

With a single excitation (e.g. beam network), the LEDs flash phase-selectively in the rhythm: flash – pause – flash.
With a second excitation (e.g. ring network with AWE / KU), the LEDs flash phase-selectively in the rhythm: double flash – pause – double flash.
