Increase network availability through intelligent data integration with iHost
Benefit from the full transparency of grid monitoring: short-circuit messages, monitoring and remote maintenance for maximum safety and reliability
In a world where power supply is essential, grid operators need to detect faults quickly. Short circuits can cause financial damage and loss of consumer confidence. iHost offers a solution: by immediately transmitting short-circuit messages to the control room, the system enables a rapid response to grid problems. Within seconds, those responsible receive precise information, which reduces downtimes and increases customer confidence in a stable power supply.
The complexity of modern power grids requires in-depth insights. iHost offers a decisive knowledge advantage by analyzing archived monitoring data, continuously collecting data from the entire grid and providing a comprehensive overview of all relevant values. This enables current problems to be identified and future challenges to be tackled proactively.

Your added value
-
Fast fault detection: The iHost system significantly reduces downtimes thanks to the remote signaling of short-circuit and earth fault indicators.
-
Transparency and control: iHost enables comprehensive network monitoring and data analysis. Data can optionally be made available for external evaluation using an API.
-
Data sovereignty: The on-premise installation of the iHost Solo variant means that data remains exclusively in your network.
-
IT security: iHost and external connections use the latest encryption technologies. The system is kept up to date with updates. ISO27001:2022 certification guarantees secure processes.
-
Device management: Thanks to the central management of all network components, the status can be called up and configurations carried out remotely.
-
User-specific solutions: Individual visualization of data and automatic notifications provide tailored information.
iHost Cloud
iHost Cloud is the ideal solution for smaller applications and pilot projects. Quick and easy commissioning is possible without software installation. With an internet-enabled end device and your own login, handling is extremely user-friendly. User-defined notifications in the event of errors or warnings are possible via SMS and e-mail.
Features
- Website for online access (SaaS)
- Field devices available with plug & play capability
- Short briefing sufficient
- Pilot test and small applications
iHost Solo and Pro
iHost Solo is designed for medium-sized distribution networks. All data is stored exclusively on the server in the customer network. The connection of field devices via a private APN and forwarding of specific data to a control room are part of the commissioning process.
iHost Pro is the ideal solution for high system availability requirements. Several servers ensure this through parallel and synchronized operation.
Features
- Same user interface as iHost Cloud
- Control room connection
- Redundant servers in the Pro version
- Data only in your network
- Installation adapted to the network topology

FAQ
How does iHost work?
The iHost system receives data from short-circuit and earth fault indicators, such as the ComPass series or the Smart Navigator 2.0. This alarm and monitoring data can be evaluated in iHost and transmitted to a control room.
What advantages does iHost offer compared to a direct connection of the indicators to a control room?
The advantage is that information and responsibilities can be clearly assigned separately. The control room only receives relevant data from the displays and does not have to worry about their maintenance and status. This can be done by a team with direct iHost access. Special access can also be granted for strategic network planning, only to evaluate the archived monitoring data.
Which displays can be connected to iHost?
All earth and short-circuit indicators with relay contacts or Modbus RTU can be integrated via the Reporter 3.0 or 4.0. The Smart Navigator 2.0 series can be integrated directly using the integrated modem. Third-party devices can be integrated on request.
Is there a way to customize iHost?
Yes, individual requirements are taken into account during commissioning. This applies to integration in the customer network, visualization, notifications, user roles, connection of third-party devices, service models and more.
Can iHost be used in the critical infrastructure sector?
Yes, iHost and the connection to the field devices and control room can be individually integrated into your IT and OT infrastructure. Horstmann’s ISO27001:2022 certification guarantees you secure processes and service over the term.
Application example
iHost application with the Smart Navigator 2.0
Overhead lines in challenging regions often pose significant difficulties. With the Smart Navigator 2.0 and the iHost software, our customer Westnetz relies on innovative technology: faults are recorded digitally and transmitted directly to the control center – quickly, securely and cost-effectively.
