Question 1: Can you please introduce yourself in 2-3 sentences?

I am Matthias, 48 years old, married, and I live in the Ruhr area. After training as a communications electronics technician, my passion for technology led me to study electrical engineering. I have been working in technical sales at Horstmann for almost 19 years.

Question 2: What are your typical tasks?

My primary task is to provide my customers with comprehensive advice via technical support, training, project planning, or quotation coordination - regardless of whether this happens in person, in an online meeting, on the phone, or by e-mail. I also collect information about customer requirements, tenders, projects, and applications and distribute them within the company.

Question 3:What are the challenges in your job?

In my job, the challenge is to act as a point of contact for customers, internal sales, production control, development, product management, and my superiors. The biggest challenge here is prioritizing all upcoming issues according to importance and urgency and working on and fulfilling them with perseverance to the satisfaction of everyone involved.

Question 4: What has been your personal highlight at Horstmann so far?

My highlight was giving the go-ahead for the development of a system for fault detection in overhead railway lines many years ago. I had the opportunity to oversee the project through various stages of development and eventually successfully sell it. That makes me feel quite proud and happy..

Question 5: What do you like best about Horstmann?

I like my customers and colleagues, and I enjoy the variety that my job brings every day.
