Pilot project for digital monitoring of a substation

By combining the Driescher medium-voltage switchgear and the Horstmann ComPass Bs 2.0 monitoring system, the pilot project enables early detection of grid overloads, predictive maintenance and efficient grid utilization.

Holistic monitoring for a safe and efficient power supply

To ensure a secure power supply, energy utilities must recognise potential grid overloads, impending blackouts and other problems at an early stage and prevent them. To do this, they need continuous information about the current load and status of the grid.

In a pilot project, Horstmann and the switchgear specialist Driescher Moosburg Eisleben are starting with the substation.

Local network station equipment
1️⃣ F24 Medium-voltage switchgear
2️⃣ DRIESCHER 403 Low-voltage distribution board
3️⃣ ComPass Bs 2.0 monitoring system from Horstmann

This is what the ComPass Bs 2.0 monitoring system from Horstmann offers:
✅ Precise measurement data that enables early detection of network overloads and faults
✅ iHost Cloud, which ensures secure data transmission and easy access to the monitoring data

Results of the pilot project:
The data collected can be used for predictive maintenance, increasing grid efficiency and covering spontaneous, regular power peaks.

“We thus offer a holistic concept with highly accurate measured values, permanent monitoring, high data security and efficient automation of medium-voltage substations” – Driescher Moosburg.

The medium-voltage system from Driescher and the monitoring solution from Horstmann complement each other perfectly.
