TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
In our reference section you will find a selection of projects and solutions that we have successfully implemented in recent years.
Project overview
In this section, we present case studies from our customers where we have successfully implemented our products and solutions. In recent years, we have worked on a variety of challenging projects that not only demonstrate our capabilities but also reflect the high quality of our products. Our solutions are designed to meet the specific requirements of our customers while meeting the highest safety and efficiency standards.

EWR GmbH | Current sensor CSOR
EWR GmbH Remscheid is facing the challenging task of modernizing its medium-voltage stations. Like many grid operators, it still uses old earth cables to connect its medium-voltage stations. Although these work perfectly, they were previously difficult to integrate into smart grid environments. By mounting the new CSOR sensor holder on insulated, unshielded medium-voltage cables – so-called earth cables – modern short-circuit indicators can be connected and monitored via LoRaWAN.

Westnetz GmbH | Smart Navigator 2.0
In view of natural events such as fallen trees that cause faults on overhead lines, Westnetz GmbH decided to digitize its network using the Smart Navigator 2.0.
The digital overhead line short-circuit indicator continuously measures data such as current strength, load flow direction and conductor temperature. In the event of a fault, the error messages are also transmitted to the control center. This means that faults on overhead lines can be localized and rectified much more quickly.
Vrielmann GmbH | ComPass B 2.0
Together with Vrielmann GmbH, we are driving innovative solutions forward. As an electrical systems manufacturer, Vrielmann takes care of system integration and project planning, while Horstmann supplies state-of-the-art components.
One highlight of our collaboration: the implementation of the ComPass B 2.0 short-circuit and earth fault indicator in an existing substation.
Dortmunder Netz GmbH | ComPass D
DONETZ and Horstmann are driving forward the modernization of Dortmund’s electricity grid. As part of a pilot project, the first local grid stations have been equipped with modern short-circuit and earth fault indicators. The roll-out for 20 further stations is already underway! More transparency, faster fault detection and remote control are the advantages that DONETZ gains with this digital solution.
This not only improves grid stability, but also optimizes the deployment of skilled workers.
Wemag Netz GmbH | Smart Navigator 2.0 HV
WEMAG Netz GmbH, a regional distribution grid operator in western Mecklenburg and parts of Brandenburg and Lower Saxony, is facing the challenge of efficiently managing the increasing feed-in from renewable energies such as wind and solar power as part of the energy transition without jeopardizing grid stability. As part of a two-year pilot project, the “Smart Navigator 2.0 HV”, an innovative overhead line short-circuit indicator, was introduced, which also precisely measures the temperature of the conductor cables using an integrated temperature sensor.
